The capital of Romania, Bucharest, displays modern and old Romanian culture. The most imposing building is the soviet-era Palace of Parliament, which still serves as the seat of government. There are churches and buildings from the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries displaying Byzantine architecture, as well as the Old Princely Court, home for the princes, the most notable of which was Vlad the Impaler, who inspired the legend of Dracula.
