Chennai, India, has many options for visitors, but most come from the temples and the beaches. Kepaleeshwara Temple is an extremely intricate and colorful temple dedicated to Shiva, and it is shaped as a pyramid comprised of many different sculptures. Varadaraja Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, one of the Indian poet-saints, and is spread across 23 acres. Mahabalipuram (Mamallapuram) is an ancient city to the south of Chennai filled with UNESCO World Heritage sites, most notably stone temples carved of rock. There are beautiful beaches nearby as well.
