The capital of the Italian region of Tuscany, Florence, is an idyllic city that is filled with Rennaissance masterpieces. Perhaps the most famous is the statue of David by Michelangelo, which was carved out of a single piece of marble (it is about 17 feet tall). Other art highlights are the Duomo by Brunelleschi, the Gallerie Degli Uffizi (housed in the former offices of the Medici), and so many more. The area is also known for its wine and truffles and is absolutely stunning.
