Lying in the San Joaquin Valley, Fresno dates back to the aftermath of the Gold Rush days. The most unique attraction is the Forestiere Underground Gardens, a series of gardens built in underground rooms that took 40 years to complete. The other major attraction is Yosemite National Park, which is just outside Fresno. The city also has some beautiful parks, specifically Woodward and Roeding Parks. During wintertime, the nearby China Peak Mountain Resort is an attraction for skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts, with courses for all skill levels.
