The capital of Angola, Luanda, displays Portuguese influences, as they had ruled over the country for centuries. As such, Luanda is the world's third most populous Portuguese-speaking city. It features several highlights, including some that date back to Portuguese rule, such as the Saint Michael Fortress, which served as the country's administrative center. The Avenida 4 de Fevereiro is the beachside promenade and the most prestigious street in the city, where most luxury hotels are located. There are also several beautiful beaches nearby, such as Massulo, which is very popular amongst locals and tourists. Surfers will want to travel a few hours to the world-famous Cabo Ledo, which has one of the world's longest point breaks at 500 meters but is also great for beginners.
