The capital city of Poland, Warsaw's tumultuous past has seen it occupied several times, most recently by Germany during WWII and the USSR thereafter. The city was completely destroyed during WWII and had to be restored afterward...today Warsaw is thriving. The main street to walk in the town is called Royal Way, starting in the south and heading north to the Old Town, and some of the city's main monuments can be found on the way. Of note are the Copernicus Statue and the nearby Copernicus Science Center, and the Presidential Palace.
